McLane Company Inc. services a large number of convenience stores, which have unique operational needs that drive them to order in smaller quantities—typically 1-2 cases per product. Here’s why:
- Limited Space: Convenience stores have very small storage areas, both on the sales floor and in the backroom. They simply can’t store large volumes of inventory.
- Product Variety: Ordering in smaller quantities allows stores to offer a broader selection of products, catering to diverse customer preferences without overloading storage capacity.
- Quick Turnover: With frequent customer traffic and high turnover rates for popular items, stores need to restock quickly without holding excess inventory.
To better support convenience stores, we require that products are available in flexible, smaller case sizes that align with their needs. At minimum, you should list cases or inner packs for purchase. Master cases can be listed in addition to the smaller cases, but not alone.
